If you follow me on Instagram (@everyday.jenny) I’ve been insta-storying about making these signs for the past few weeks. (You can still see the process in my highlights.) I have photos and a supplies list to make your frames on this post HERE.

It’s been fun building the frames for these and then finishing them up with my Cricut. I love how many materials I can cut with my Cricut Maker. Seriously, the Maker can cut through hundreds of materials with ease! My favorite new material to cut is basswood. I used it to make the three tree sign in the above photo.

Cut out your vinyl. Use your tools to weed the excess vinyl from your design.

Apply your transfer tape to the vinyl and use your extra large scraper to make sure it’s secure. Carefully remove the liner and position on your sign.

I usually eyeball my placement of designs, but since this sign was large, I used a measuring tape to get it centered.

Use your scraper to adhere the vinyl to the sign. Remove the transfer tape and your sign is finished!

Instructions for the Joy Wreath Sign:

Open the Joy Wreath Design HERE.

Resize the design according to the size of your sign. Click on “Make It”

Make sure you mirror each of your mats because you are using iron-on!

Cut out your iron-on and weed the excess.

Heat up your EasyPress 2 according to the interactive online chart found HERE. For iron-on on wood, my instructions were 300 for 40 seconds.

I originally was going to use my large EasyPress 2 but decided to use my smaller one to press on the details. Press on each color separately and remove the liner.

Now you’re iron-on Joy sign is done! I personally love using iron-on for projects because I think it’s so much easier to weed then vinyl.

Instructions for Three Trees Wood Sign:

Open the Three Trees Wood Sign design HERE. You are limited on the size you can cut your wood because you can only cut a maximum size: 10.5” x 11.5” or 10.5” x 23.5”. My trees are as large as I could get them.

Make sure you have your knife blade loaded in your machine. If you haven’t calibrated your knife blade before make sure you follow these instructions to do so.

You will need slide your white guides on the machine over to the right so they don’t leave indentations in your wood.

You also will want to secure your basswood around the edges with tape. I used some painters tape I had.

Click on Make It and make sure to arrange your mats to they fit your pieces of wood. My wood is 4 inches wide by 11 inches long, so I tape two pieces to my mat to cut everything out at the same time.

Once the machine is done cutting it will prompt you to check the cut to make sure its done. If it is, unload the mat and carefully remove the pieces from your mat. Be careful they are delicate!

I used MinWax Stain in Honey to stain my wood and then painted it with a dry brush and a little green paint. You can see the method in more detail in this post HERE.

Use glue to attach your trees to your sign and you’re done! Now you have some awesome Christmas decor.
