KNEADERS HOPE FIGHTS CHILDHOOD CANCER CAMPAIGN

The month of September is childhood cancer awareness month. Kneaders Bakery & Cafe has launched their Hope Fights Childhood Cancer Campaign. All month long you can donate to the campaign to help them meet their goal of raising $300,000 for cancer research.

Each year, 16,000 children in the United States are diagnosed with cancer. I have seen some of my friends’ lives impacted with their children’s heartbreaking cancer diagnosis. Dr. Joshua Schiffman, a world-renowned Oncologist, is exploring how elephant DNA might hold the key to ending cancer for children throughout the globe.

Did you know that elephants have 40 cancer fighting proteins in their DNA which means they rarely get cancer? Did you know that humans only have two cancer fighting proteins in their DNA?

I was able to take a tour of Dr. Schiffman’s laboratory and see some of his amazing research with elephant proteins that is so hopeful in the fight against cancer. Research is expensive. It takes a lot of money to perform all the necessary laboratory tests and there are many people working on the research. There are three ways you can donate to the campaign with the funds going directly to the cancer research:

  • Stop by your local Kneaders and purchase an elephant cookie or any of the cute elephant merchandise. I love the gold elephant necklace and the elephant socks. They also have the softest stuffed animal elephants. If you aren’t able to get to the store you can purchase them online at Kneaders.com/hope

  • Round up your purchase then next time you are at Kneaders
  • Donate online at Kneaders.com/hope

I purchased a few of the cookies and they are so delicious! I think they would make a great gift for a neighbor or friend. I made this cute little elephant card using my Cricut. I’ve included the link to the card in Design Space if you want to make one, too. Find the elephant card link —–>HERE
