DIY TEEPEE

DIY teepee

I knew I wanted to give my kids a teepee for Christmas, but they were pretty expensive everywhere I looked and more than I was willing to pay. I found two awesome tutorials on Pinterest. I wanted to make this twin sheet teepee, but all the sheet sets I found at Walmart were kind of plain and I was worried about it being a little small.  Instead I bought a twin sheet set at my local thrift store (flat sheet and fitted sheet) for $4. Then I used this tutorial to make the pockets for the poles to sit in. Because my sheet was patterned, I didn’t want the door to be the reverse so I cut the door piece out of the fitted sheet instead. PVC was kind of expensive so instead I bought some wood at Lowe’s and my husband cut them in half for the poles.  This project was a little tricky for a few reasons. Getting straight lines and cutting such big sections was hard, especially because I didn’t have a huge area to work in (my craft area is small) Also, because I am not great at sewing super straight lines, my pockets were a little tight in some areas.  So if you are a beginner sewer like me, take note to sew the pole pockets very carefully!  After it was all done, I was super happy with the final product! And best of all my kids loved it.
