I love Christmas time and I am looking forward to decking out my whole house. It’s probably the holiday that I have the most decorations for. Since having children, I’ve had to decorate differently. The last few years that meant all the my soft ornaments towards the bottom of the tree where my tiny crawlers could reach and pull things off. Also, my German Christmas pyramid has spent the last few years packed away so it doesn’t get broken. I have quite a few Nativity sets that I love.  I think it’s wonderful that my children love them, but seeing as I don’t want them broken when tiny hands try to play with them,  I came up with the idea to make these cute felt finger puppets for my kids. Now they have their very own set that they can play with and my set stays safe. Win-win.

The Cricut Maker has been amazing. I love the rotary blade and that I am able to cut out fabric! I’m looking forward to making a quilt with it soon. I have loved using my rotary blade for felt fabric. It cuts it out perfectly every time! I still get all giddy about using it when I am going to do a new fabric project. If you want to know more about the Cricut Maker, you can check out my post here.

I have included the Design Space link so if you have Cricut Access you can get to making them right away since it’s all done for you. If you don’t have little ones of your own, I think these would make a great Christmas gift for neighbors with little ones or grandkids.

Materials for Nativity Finger Puppets:

(Click on any of the words below to purchase.)

Cricut Maker
Rotary Blade (comes with Cricut Maker)
Cricut Felt Sky Sampler
Cricut Felt Carousel Sampler
Cricut FabricGrip Mat
Hot glue gun and glue sticks <
Instructions:

Open Cricut Design Space and open this file——-> Nativity Finger Puppets

(*Note:  I included some eyes if you wanted to duplicate them and cut them out in Cricut Iron-On. If not just delete them.)

Click on Make It and Select Felt as the Material to cut. Load your rotary blade into your machine and load the corresponding color of felt shown on the Design Screen on to your Cricut FabricGrip Mat.

Once you have cut out all of your mats, carefully group each of the puppets together for assembly.

Using your hot glue gun, make a line of glue around the back of the finger puppet. Lay the front piece on top and press to secure. Then glue the other puppet pieces such as hair, face and arms on. Repeat with each puppet. You will always do a finger shaped line of glue on the back piece of the puppet.

Now your puppets are done! Let those tiny fingers play away with their own Nativity.  Let me know if you have any questions in the comments below.

          1. Lynda, yes let me know if your laptop won’t open the link. I have found I can’t usually open my design space links through the app for some reason.

    1. Hi Lynda. Are you on a computer? I just double checked and the link was working for me. I don’t think it works from the app on your phone, but a computer should work.

    1. I have cut felt on my Cricut Air before using the strong grip mat and the fine tip blade. I haven’t tried cutting these smaller shapes out with it before. You could always test one out and see? The Cricut brand felt is a little thinner and stiffer so it might work. I’ve only done smaller more intricate felt cuts with the rotary blade on my Cricut Maker.
