DIY HAND STAMPED INITIAL NECKLACE

Hand stamped jewelry makes a lasting, meaningful present and is the perfect Christmas gift! You can easily and affordably create hand stamped jewelry using ImpressArt supplies from JOANN.

If you have a Cricut (or need another reason to get one!) I also made a cute gift box to put my necklace in.

This is a sponsored post brought to you by JOANN. All opinions are my own.

I’m not that big of a jewelry-wearing person, but I had the opportunity to take a class on hand stamped jewelry and I fell in love. The pieces have so much more meaning to me, and I love wearing beautiful jewelry that I have made myself.

Hand stamping is actually not very hard to learn. The most important tip I can give you is to remember that you need to give your stamp only ONE hard hit. You might have the tendency to want to tap it a few times like you would do with a nail, and that will not work! I also recommend practicing on a few blanks before you attempt your final piece.

I love that ImpressArt has stamping guides to help you line up your letters. They also have all sorts of blanks in different metals. I made my mother-in-law this silver necklace for Christmas with “Nana” and all her grandkids initials.

Use your stamping guide tape to space and stamp your letters evenly. This is optional. Hand stamped jewelry tends to look a little bit organic, and I like that it’s not too perfect, because you hand made it.

Using ImpressArt guides for stamping necklace

Repeat the steps to stamp out each initial on the smaller blanks.

Instructions for the gift box:

Supplies:

Cricut Maker Blue
Cricut Scoring Wheel Combo
Cricut 2 pk 12″x12″ Standard Cutting Mats
Cricut 6 Pack 12″x12″ Acetate Sheets – Clear
Cricut 12″x12″ Glitter Cardstock Sampler – Brights
Crafter’s Companion Permanent Tape Pen

Open the box file found HERE.

Follow the Cricut Design Space on screen prompts to score the acetate with the scoring wheel and cut it out with the fine point blade.

Carefully bend the box at the score lines. There are two tabs you will need to use your glue tape on. Carefully fold up the sides of the box that are NOT rounded, and press the tabs with the glue over the other side.

Assembling Cricut foil acetate boxes

Use the tape glue on the backsides of the blue paper piece, so that both sides are sparkly. Insert the blue paper piece for your necklace. Now you have a beautiful handmade gift box to go along with your hand stamped jewelry!
