CRICUT BRIGHTPAD REVIEW

The new Cricut BrightPad is a fun crafting companion that makes tracing, weeding and other craft projects easier. Read on for my review and a GIVEAWAY!
I received a BrightPad in exchange for my honest review. As always all opinions are my own.

Cricut BrightPad

The new Cricut BrightPad is a nice addition to add to your crafting supplies. It can be used for tracing and to make weeding vinyl or iron-on much easier. If you have ever worked with glitter vinyl or glitter iron-on you know how tricky it can be to see where you need to weed, especially intricate designs. A few months ago I was helping out at a Cricut Craft night and we were making some cute iron-on bags. One of the ladies brought a design that was so cute but it was nearly impossible to weed in the dim lighting of the building we were in. If we had had the Cricut BrightPad that night, her project would have been so much faster and easier.

I was so excited to open up my BrightPad. I love the look of the packaging. When you open the box you will see your BrightPad. Underneath is the instruction booklet and a 6 foot USB power cord.

Getting started is easy. Simply take it out, plug the USB cord end into the cord and plug your BrightPad into an outlet and it’s ready to go. Here are some of the things I loved about it:

  • It’s super light-weight.
    • Actually quite a bit lighter than I expected. You can easily take it with you.
  • 5 different brightness settings.
    • Depending on what you are working with it was nice to be able to adjust the brightness.
  • Non-slip base.
    • This was nice because it doesn’t slide or move around while tracing
  • Overall appearance.
    • The Cricut BrightPad just looks sleek and nice. They have done a good job with the design.

The one thing I didn’t like was that it always has to be plugged in when you use it.  Before receiving it, I was thinking because it was lightweight and portable that it had a battery so it didn’t always need to be plugged in. That’s not the case (and it does say this in the description online).  The cord is also a little bit thick and clunky in my opinion, but I do like that the plug for it is in the back so it doesn’t get in the way.

Cricut BrightPad

I decided to use my Cricut BrightPad to try tracing some hand lettering. I love to sketch hand lettering with a pencil and then go over the final design with a marker. Pencil sketching allows me to perfect the writing just how I want it and then tracing it allows me to have a nice clean page. I can’t tell you how many times I have used a window or even help stuff up to my computer to trace before the Cricut BrightPad. I decided to do some lettering for a little planter I have. I am plant killer. I don’t try to be but I am! So I thought this “Don’t Die Please” was a cute saying for a planter.

Below you can see the BrightPad in action. It made tracing my pencil sketch so easy!

After I traced my design for my planter, I took a picture with my phone and uploaded it to my computer and into Cricut Design Space. I cut out my vinyl and applied it to my planter. I also used the BrightPad for weeding my vinyl but forgot a picture of that. Here is the finished product. Cute, no?

Overall, I think the Cricut BrightPad is a nice, useful tool to include in your crafting supplies. I am excited to use it for future projects.
